Safety First: Before using the radial drilling machine, make sure to put on the appropriate personal protective equipment and familiarize yourself with the machine's manual and safety guidelines.
Select the drill bit: Choose the drill bit that corresponds to the size of the hole you want to drill. Make sure the bit is the correct size and material for the workpiece you're drilling.
Mount the workpiece: Secure the workpiece to the machine's table or work holding device. If necessary, use clamps or vise grips to hold the workpiece in place.
Position the radial arm: Position the radial arm over the workpiece and adjust its height so that the drill bit will reach the center of the workpiece. Make sure the arm is level and stable.
Set the depth stop: Use the depth stop to control the depth of the hole being drilled. This will prevent you from drilling too deep and damaging the drill bit or the workpiece.
Turn on the machine: Turn on the machine and use the feed handles to lower the drill bit into the workpiece. Start drilling at a slow speed, then gradually increase the speed as needed.
Monitor the drill bit: Monitor the drill bit as it cuts into the workpiece. If you hear any unusual sounds or if the drill bit seems to be binding, stop the machine immediately and check the bit and workpiece.
Finish drilling: Once you've drilled to the desired depth, use the feed handles to raise the drill bit and turn off the machine.
Clean up: Remove the workpiece from the machine and clean up any debris or chips generated during the drilling process.
Note: Always follow the manufacturer's guidelines and use the proper techniques to ensure safe and efficient use of the radial drilling machine.
